About Four Paws Animal Hospital

Four Paws Animal Clinic opened its doors on January 7th, 2002. After working for several years as an associate veterinarian, Dr. McKelroy realized that true freedom to provide the highest quality medicine would only come by opening her own practice. Dr. McKelroy started with a staff of 2 people in a 1,500 square-foot shopping center space. It quickly became clear that the practice would outgrow that facility. As more technology was brought in-house, “animal clinic” conveyed the wrong impression about a hospital that offered complete surgical and medical services that included a complete lab, x-ray, endoscopy, ultrasound, and dentistry. In 2004, an already full-service Four Paws Animal Clinic became Four Paws Animal Hospital.

In March 2007, Four Paws Animal Hospital was able to move into its current, free-standing, 4,900 square-foot facility and has grown from its original 2 staff members to employing over 20 staff members. This move allowed for the expansion of veterinary services, increased boarding capacity, and created space for doggy daycare and a full-time groomer. In the summer of 2013, Four Paws opened a 2,000 square-foot boarding facility, giving Four Paws a modern, dedicated space for boarding and allowing the previous existing space to be dedicated to hospital services.

Dr. McKelroy and her staff are excited for Four Paws Animal Hospital to constantly grow with Rowlett and the surrounding community, helping us reach our goal of providing exceptional service to more pets (and their people!).
